The Board of Assimilation Mission: Inviting People to Know the Lord
The purpose of the Board of Assimilation is to develop the willingness of all members to serve the kingdom of God with their time and talents, to integrate and to provide for the training and utilization of members of the congregation for the work of Christ's kingdom.
The Board of Assimilation is involved with visitor follow up, including phone calls and mailings to visitors of St. Matthew. This board oversees the transfer of members into, or out of the congregation. We offer a Life with God class to all incoming members. New members receive a New Member Newsletter for one year. In this newsletter there are articles that describe each board and group of St. Matthew. We sponsor orientation meetings. At these meeting new members will meet representatives of the various board and groups of our congregation, hear presentations about their purpose and activities and have the opportunity to ask questions. This board hosts a Network class for all members, where you learn about your personal style, your spiritual gifts and your passion. After this class, with a willingness to do so, members will find their niche in serving God at St. Matthew. our regular meeting date, unless otherwise noted, is the third Sunday of each month, after the second service.

The Board of Christian Education Mission: Encouraging daily life with Christ
The Board of Christian Education oversees the development of the congregation and community in the study and application of the Word of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to make Jesus real to both members and non-members. The board is responsible for the following groups: Sunday School, Confirmation Class, Vacation Bible School, Youth Week, Life With God Class, Pastor's Bible Studies, Adult Bible Study, Nursery, and Library.
The regular meeting date, unless otherwise noted, is on the second Thursday of each month.

The Board of Church Properties Mission: Building with Christ
The basic objectives of this Board are the proper supervision, maintenance and repair of church and cemetery properties. Also, the supervision of custodial and maintenance personnel, the representation of the congregation in all legal matters, and the general protection of the congregation against loss or damage of whatever nature.
The regular meeting date, unless otherwise noted, is on the third Monday of each month, at 7:00 PM.

The Board of Finance Mission: Financially equipping the church and its mission.
The basic objectives of the Board of Finance shall be to initiate programs for the development of good stewardship attitudes in the members of the congregation, to insure the financial stability of the congregation and its work through a developed program of dedicated, proportionate, and first-fruits giving, as well as to establish and maintain a program for endowing the congregation through wills, bequests, foundations and other sources.

The Board of Lay Ministry Mission: Providing Spiritual Support and Encouragement
The purpose of this Board is to oversee the Spiritual welfare of the congregation and to institute and facilitate programs to further spiritual growth The Board of Lay Ministry works with Pastor to ensure his well being and serves as a "Sounding Board" as he shepherds our congregation. They ensure the well being of the church office secretary and oversee the operations of the church office. Other areas of responsibility include the Tape Ministry, Prayer Corps, Stephen Ministry, and Shepherd's Guild programs, and the sending of spiritually uplifting cards to those members who have been ill and / or hospitalized. Community service is provided by the coordination of St. Matthew's Food Drives for the Bethany food pantry. This Board provides for the homebound of our congregation by arranging for the delivery of the weekly bulletin, and other congregational information , as well as providing for a devotion, and the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper. They are responsible for Flock Oversight (also known as NPCM ) by investigating and implementing alternative programs to renew St. Matthew's connection to those members who have not participated recently in the Sacraments given to us by the Lord.

Board of Outreach and Missions Mission: Spreading God's Word!
Bringing the Gospel to the unchurched, the enlistment of all of God's people in the work of spreading the Gospel, the deepening of the faith and activity of the members of the congregation, and the proper soul-accounting at all times. The board shall also accept the responsibility for encouraging and fostering within the congregation, synodical, district, and local missions, societies, programs and education.

The Board of Parish Fellowship Mission: Welcoming Community Spiritual Fellowship
The basic objective of this board is to strengthen Christian fellowship between members of the congregation both spiritually and socially, and to assist the auxiliary organizations of the congregation including Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL), Ladies Aid, Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) and Matthew's Mates.
Areas of responsibility include coordinating the church calendar, overseeing the Newsletter and weekly bulletin, and to motivate and coordinate the congregational effort to provide events such as the Easter Breakfast, Church Picnic, and Stewardship Fair.
The regular meeting date, unless otherwise noted is the first Thursday of month at 7:00 p.m.

Board of Public Relations Mission: Creating an Information Network
Using various media the Board of Public Relations publicizes within the church and the community the events of the church. The board oversees the church newsletter, web site, the portable billboard, newspaper articles & announcements, church bulletin boards, Lemont Chamber of Commerce Expo and the entry in the Keepataw Day Parade. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.

The Board of Worship Mission: Enhancing worship and supporting Pastor
The purpose of the Board of Worship is to provide a setting and form for God's people at St. Matthew to encounter His Word and Sacraments. Responsibilities include staffing worship services with deacons, ushers and readers; overseeing the organist; engaging guest organists when needed; working with Pastor to plan worship services for Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter and other special services; coordinating banner making and other special / seasonal additions to the services; overseeing the choir director, adult choir, children's choir; overseeing the Altar Guild; and providing any service possible to assist Pastor and enable the congregation to worship their Lord.

Board of Young People's Ministry Mission: Encouraging Loving Discipleship.
Provide opportunities to bring young people to Christ. Build them up into the fellowship of the Body of Christ and unto fully maturity in Christ, and empower them for service in living their faith in Christ.
